The Solution

SOLANTE SpaceSwitch provides all of the required functionalities for subscriber concentration over satellite in a single, compact package. SpaceSwitch is modular, thus making it ideal for rural communities with different population densities. Only a small area is required for the installation of the outdoor rugged rack, antenna and RF equipment. See datasheet below .

Remote Operation

The configuration, monitoring and control of SpaceSwitch are done remotely from the Network Operation Center (NOC). External alarms are available so that equipment integrity and its surroundings may also be monitored. A Call Detail Record (CDR) is generated for every call, including the ones staying within the same community.

Intra- & Inter-Community Calls

Calls within the same community do not use satellite resources. SpaceSwitch keeps these calls local, thus saving the cost of satellite bandwidth usage. Calls among different communities make use of the flexible SOLANTE full-mesh capability. These calls travel directly from one community to another over satellite, but without tying up trunking resources at the PSTN.

Long Distance Calls

Users of SOLANTE SpaceSwitch make long distance and international calls through the PSTN following the standard dialing procedures of the established national numbering plan. The routing of long distance calls can take advantage of the unique SOLANTE Multi-Gateway Topology, where calls are delivered to the most appropriate PSTN gateway, or “least cost” route.

Rugged Outdoor Package

The SOLANTE SpaceSwitch is offered in a single, integrated package specifically built for harsh, outdoor environments. The baseband equipment of the SpaceSwitch system fits within a rugged, compact rack that can be mounted either to the wall or antenna pole, along with the antenna, BUC and LNB.
