Innovation and Leadership in DVB-RCS Networks |
The open, international DVB-RCS standard, published by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), enables the most advanced MF-TDMA satellite networks. DVB-RCS products, which are certified for conformance to the standard by SatLabs (www.SatLabs.org ) are a growing force in the industry as many government and commercial customers demand the proven specification, operational efficiencies and investment protection assured by certified DVB-RCS products. STM’s VSATs were the industry’s first to be certified by SatLabs and comprised the first DVB-RCS network installation approved by Eutelsat.
European Space Agency (ESA), a long-term dedicated sponsor of the DVB-RCS technology and standards, chose STM in 2007 to lead a consortium to evaluate, prototype and test advanced modem technologies aimed to be a significant enhancement relative to the current DVB-RCS standard. The primary intent of the development is to further improve performance and reduce the operating costs of broadband interactive satellite communications systems. Elements from the current DVB-RCS standard form the basis for the prototyping. Read more in STM's press release on this development.
STM has again proven itself to be a driving force for innovation in the satellite communications industry.
