Webcast: SatLink System & DVB-RCS Overview
SatLink System BenefitsIndustry Standard, Future-Proof Investment - Customers benefit in multiple ways when they buy DVB-RCS satellite network solutions:
Bandwidth Efficiency & Network Performance - The SatLink system attains superior aggregate bandwidth efficiency and performance for a customer's IP through combination of advanced technologies including:
ACM and Rain Fade Mitigation - Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM) is a powerful technique that allows for higher total bandwidth in a network, while also assuring higher minimum bandwidth per VSAT and better link availability. This increase in efficiency and reliability is possible because the SatLink hub automatically adjusts the FEC rate and modulation to compensate for rain fades experienced by each different remote VSAT.
Advanced QoS & Traffic Engineering - For voice, interactive video, or even just multiple IP data applications, it is essential to have the most advanced bandwidth management and QoS mechanisms tailored to the satellite networking environment to get carrier-class quality. SatLink does this with a combination of: Efficient, High Quality Mesh Networking Options - The SatLink Mesh network is the leading high-performance DVB-RCS certified mesh solution, with support for DVB-S2 and DVB-S forward links and hardware optimized for IP networking. It offers outstanding throughput and high-capacity mesh links, with advanced QoS, traffic acceleration, VPN, and many other value-added software features. High-Performance Interactive and Multicast Links - More and more IP applications require high-speed, high-throughput interactive and multicast links. SatLink handles these applications easily, with support for return and mesh links at rates up to 5 Mbps. SatLink also supports very high-capacity, dynamically shared forward links with IP multicast routing support and hardware optimized for IP packet processing. Network Scalability -With SatLink, your network can start small and grow very large (more than 10,000 VSATs), without swapping out your equipment. New hardware functionality can also be added easily to VSATs when using plug-in options for the SatLink 1910 VSAT IDU. SatLink hubs can be grown smoothly from a single forward link on one satellite, to many forward links across several satellites, and dozens or hundreds of return links. In addition, SatLink supports multi-band networks with cross-strapped transponders for optimizing available satellite bandwidth and overall network performance. Mesh & Star Topologies - Star topologies work fine for many IP data applications, but voice and video-conferencing networks benefit greatly from mesh topologies. With mesh support there is only a single-hop between VSATs, so response time is improved and bandwidth usage greatly reduced. SatLink mesh networks can have any mix of star, and partial or full-mesh topologies within them. They integrate tightly and easily with the customer's IP routing plan and allow separate independent IP networks and gateways (for VNOs) within the same satellite network. Field Proven, High-Volume Product - As the leader in DVB-RCS technology and sales, SatLink products are made in high-volume with a field-tested and proven track record of reliability and cost-effectiveness. Many tens of thousands of units are in operation. |
