GLOBAL COVERAGE FROM STM's TELEPORT SERVICES
|
NEW! STM has added two new teleport hubs, expanding service opportunities in the Middle East and Africa. See more information below.
STM’s Global Teleport Services offer customers a selection of SatLink VSAT options, from very high performance VSATs with mesh networking capabilities to lower-cost VSATs for more modest requirements. By using STM’s Global Teleport Services, there is no need to incur the capital cost of a DVB-RCS compliant hub system, nor is there a need to arrange for long-term transponder leases. STM handles all hub operations and bandwidth management to meet the specific needs of individual customers. STM’s teleports are built from STM’s most advanced, field-proven products and operated by STM’s own highly trained experts. They are equipped with redundancy for all key components, providing fast fail-over for guaranteed levels of up-time and service quality.
Teleport customers may use VSATs in mobile, portable or fixed modes of operation. STM's teleports also provide interconnection with the local public switched telephone network (PSTN) or a designated private network, and most teleports are collocated with major data centers for Tier-1 Internet connectivity, giving low network delay and high-availability.
STM’s eight teleports (see "Teleport Details" below) cover most continents and ocean areas (see details and map below), serving the requirements of both terrestrial and marine applications with extensive global roaming capabilities for mobile terminals. High-speed mobile applications (e.g., for auto, truck, train and aviation) are also served, as well as transportable VSATs.
Services for Every Need
STM’s Global Teleport Services are based on two different core service offerings to which various special options can be added. The core services are:
STM Connect
- Suited to final users and businesses with minimal networking expertise and normal bandwidth requirements.
- Offers customers Internet connectivity with several options depending on customer needs.
- Optimal for customers with between 5 and 50 locations anywhere within the coverage of our teleports.
- VSAT installation, field service and end-user support responsibility is usually assumed by the customer.
STM Global
- Suited for organizations with IP network operations expertise, such as ISPs, corporations, and certain government ministries.
- Offers customers a virtual private satellite network with Virtual Network Operator (VNO) facilities.
- High levels of Committed Information Rate (CIR).
- Optimal for customers with 50 to thousands of locations (depending on requirements per site).
- Dedicated Internet Access can be added to the STM Global Service.
For both of the core services described above, the “sites” may be mobile or transportable if the STM Mobile or STM Nomadic options are enabled. In addition, highly efficient content distribution services using IP multicasting can be enabled with the STM Stream option, which works with both receive-only and two-way VSATs. Mesh networking among remote sites is enabled with STM Mesh option.
Advantages
- Universal Access: STM offers communications to any organization, anywhere under the coverage of our teleports. This provides the same benefits to users in urban and rural areas.
Immediate Deployment: Access to VSAT technology is almost instantaneous, eliminating a need for a costly infrastructure.
Greater bandwidth: Data accesses up to 80+ Mbps are possible in the downstream using the DVB-S2 standard. Return links up to 2 Mbps are feasible on most satellites with standard equipment.
Multicasting: Sending information to thousands of sites requires the same bandwidth as sending to a single site, making satellite is the most cost-effective way to multicast any data, audio or video content.
Redundancy & Reliability: STM’s teleports are equipped with redundancy for all key components, providing fast fail-over for guaranteed levels of up-time and service quality. STM’s operations center is attended 24 x 7.
Teleport Details
Based on STM’s state-of-the-art satellite network products, STM's Global Teleport Services give organizations robust communications without having to incur the capital cost of hub equipment. These teleports provide shared hub and satellite access to fixed and mobile VSATs, under a variety of service plans for private or public networking, with high-speed connections to the Internet and the public switched telephone network. Customers can manage their own virtual network, or STM’s teleport staff can perform the network management for customers. STM Teleports are located in Irvine, California; Jacksonville, Florida; Rugby, United Kingdom; Madrid, Spain; Singapore; Sao Paulo, Brazil; London, United Kingdom; and Nittedal, Norway.
